Sybase (NYSE:SY) today announced that it will showcase
its continued commitment to Eclipse Open Source development for enterprise and
mobile applications at EclipseCon 2008, at the Santa Clara Convention Center,
Santa Clara, CA, March 17-20. At the event, Sybase(R) representatives will lead
seven presentations focusing on topics ranging from the Eclipse Data Tools
Platform to Creating Windows Mobile Database Applications.
A Strategic Developer member of the Eclipse Organization, Sybase is dedicated to
broadening the value of Eclipse to the software development community.
Sybase will exhibit its enterprise and mobile data
management solutions as well as development tools that leverage Eclipse.

Data Applications in Eclipse: The Eclipse Data Tools
Platform
Sybase's John Graham will join Loic Julien and Sheila Sholars of IBM, to
co-present one of the opening tutorial sessions of the conference on developing
data applications. The Eclipse Data Tools Platform (DTP) project provides a
number of key exemplary end-user tools for working with data sources. Whether
your task is working primarily on a database or to build an application using a
database, DTP can help. The session will offer an overview of DTP and
investigate data tooling. The session will also discuss heterogeneous data
access with DTP and how DTP is leveraged in other Eclipse projects, such as BIRT

Implement Schema Editing Based on Delta DDL
Dafan Yang and Lin Song will present a tutorial to guide developers to build DDL
and Delta DDL generators, hence to implement the database schema editors. To
help the developers to quickly develop an editor for a specific database type,
an exemplary implementation demo and source code will be provided. -0- Date:

Birds of a Feather Session: Eclipse Data Tools Platform

John Graham will lead an informal, yet broad discussion about DTP. Topics

Creating Windows Mobile(R) Database Applications with
Eclipse
Sybase iAnywhere's Merlin Yamssi will present a short talk about the best
practices to create a Windows Mobile database application with Eclipse. Topics
include mobile application design, data synchronization, offline capabilities,
and security. The presentation includes a demonstration of a Java database
application running on a Windows Mobile device performing synchronization to a

DTP Help-Helper Plug-in
Packaged in release 1.5 of the Data Tools Platform (DTP) project is a
help-helper plug-in, org.eclipse.datatools.help. John Graham will introduce the
benefits of help context abstraction, and show how developers can use the
ContextProviderDelegate to provide more useful and precisely targeted, dynamic

Push for Usability of Data Tools Wizards
In the Data Tools Project (DTP), there are several wizards associated with
creating driver definitions and connection profiles for tooling components such
as the Data Source Explorer (DSE). Sybase's Brian Fitzpatrick will conduct a
short talk that will focus on a few of the topics under consideration and the
