Book : Java 6 Platform Revealed Book Review

Java 6 Platform Revealed is an introductory look at the Java 6 platform. This book is not meant for someone who is new to Java. However, if you are already know Java this book will help you get up to speed on Java 6.

About the Book
Author: John Zukowski
Publisher: Apress
ISBN13: 978-1-59059-660-9
ISBN10: 1-59059-660-9
240 pp.
Published: July 2006

As you can see in the Table of Contents, the chapters are organized by similar Java packages. For example, java.awt and javax.swing are covered in the same chapter.

This book provides good coverages of the major changes in Java 6. The book was actually published before Java 6 was released (by almost 6 months). There are a handful of other notable features that didn't make it into the book. Some of the missing topics include the light weight HTTP server and international enhancements.

Although there are some missing enhancements, I would recommend buying this book if you need to get up to speed with Java 6. The book is well organized and the examples are small and concise. The writing style of author makes this a quick and easy read.
